EE was cleaning of rock and dirt off of a low-boy trailer by sweeping the material with his gloved hand. The employee contacted a steel splinter approximately 1 inch in length that penetrated his glove and pierced his right index finger nearly going completely through the finger.

EE WAS STANDING ON THE GROUND REMOVING CHAINS AND BINDERS FROM A LOW-BOY TRAILER IN PREPARATION TO LOAD A TRUCK. ONE OF THE CHAINS HUNG UP ON THE TRAILER AS THE EE PULLED ON IT. EE FELT A "POP" IN RIGHT SHOULDER

THE INTERNAL COIL OF THE FLEXIBLE CONDUIT IS EMTREMELY SHARP AND WHEN THE OLD FITTING WAS REMOVED THE COIL WIRE CUT THE LEFT THUMB BAS. SEVERED FLEXOR TENDON REQUIRING SURGERY ON 8-31-02 AND A GAINS ON 9-14-02 TO REATTACH.
