THE MINE RESCUE TEAM WAS PARTICIPATING IN AN UNDERGROUND MINE RESCUE EXERCISE IN AN ABANDONED MINE. AS THE TEAM WAS WALKING UP A STEEP DECLINE ON THEIR RETURN TO THE SURFACE, TWO TEAM MEMBERS COLLAPSED. THIS VICTIM WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. THE SECOND TEAM MEMBER WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE DIED ON 10/23/02.
